ABOUT ME

I have always viewed art as a powerful tool to help one express themselves, their thoughts, feelings and beliefs. Art is a tool I want to make accessible for everybody.

My passion for art has been present ever since I was able to put pen to paper so naturally I chose to study art in college. College helped me to develop a variety of skills such as multi medium sculpture, working with clay, creating small scale models and dioramas, working with digital medias, character concept and design and improving my already established illustration skills.In my second year of college I was nominated for the M.A.R.S award for my clay bust sculptures of my own original characters relating to the prompt Japan. I created 4 original characters all of which have famous Japanese food items for heads.

One of my proudest achievements to date was having the privilege to paint a mural in honour of the residents I formally supported. I made a start on the mural which featured all interests of the residents, I wanted to make this piece so that the care home would feel more like theirs. I also got them involved in the process, encouraging them to pick up a paint brush and get stuck in. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete the project due to the closure of the home.

Another achievement of mine was successfully creating a miniature scale diorama of my art corner. It showcases my work space, miniatures of my previous art works and my preferred forms of mediums. I created this in order to convey a deeper insight into my personal space and how I prefer to create my artwork. I used common household objects and parts of my real art corner to create this piece.

I am a support worker currently. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is being able to assist others to use art as a means of expression, this can range from traditional media such as drawing and painting to textile media. There is one gentleman in particular who will spend all day with me crafting hammer beads and sequin painting. Being able to assist him in self expression through art brings me so much joy.

In the future, I hope to further my career in the creative field. My ultimate goal is to be an art therapist.
